Obwakamuswaga bwa Kooki
The Kingdom of Kooki, officially known as Obwakamuswaga bwa Kooki, is a traditional cultural institution located in Rakai District, Uganda. Established between 1696 and 1740, the kingdom has a rich history spanning over three centuries, playing a vital role in preserving cultural heritage while promoting modern development.
As one of Uganda's eleven traditional cultural institutions (comprising five chiefdoms and six kingdoms), Kooki represents a unique blend of historical significance and contemporary relevance. The kingdom operates under Ugandan law as a cultural institution, dedicated to the preservation of traditions, promotion of development, and service to the Abakooki (people of Kooki).
